Gambel Quail was named after William Gambel, a naturalist from the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia.
A group of quail are called a bevy, covey or drift.

Baby season is April - July. The female lays approximately 12 eggs. They take about 20-24 days to hatch.
Their distinctive call is used to locate other members of their covey.
